Third party insurance is not very common these days as you can often get TPFT insurance for the same or less.
This level of insurance is the lowest that you can buy and is not advisable under any circumstances. The important thing to remember about this level of insurance is: Your property or person are not covered at all. This means that although you are covered against damaging other peoples property, nothing of yours is insured at all.
So if my bike is stolen what do I get?
Nothing at all, nada, zip. In other words, if you're worried about your bike getting stolen, get third party fire & theft.
What about if I crash into someone else?
Their property is covered, yours isn't.
We'd recommend that you get TPFT over third party insurance because the added cost(if any) will be well worth it if you need to make a claim. At the end of the day the choice all comes down to what you need, don't try to save a couple of quid here and there if it's going to give you an inadequate level of cover.
