Do drivers have selective memory?

A recent survey has shown that a number a motorists do not recognise common road signs, but for some reason they all can spot speed camera signs.

500 motorist were questioned an asked to name some road signs that were shown to them. Only 75% were able to identify over half of the signs shown, but 100% knew what the speed camera sign looked like.

The second most recognised was the road-works sign. The signs that motorists seeded to have the most problem identify were those that indicated hazardous conditions.

The survey also concluded that older drivers are safer that their younger counterparts, as motorists over 55 could identify more signs than motorist between 18 and 24.

There was also some difference between the sexes, which is bound to open a whole can of worms. But males were able to identify more road signs, than female motorists. It must be said that overall both sexes were very evenly matched with the males just edging it.

On a serous note the failure if motorist to identify with these signs is driving up the cost of insurance premiums, as it increases that risk of road accidents.
