Motorcycle Action Group Embarks on Safety Campaign for Bikers

In the UK alone more than 28,000 people are killed or injured following motorbike accidents. This has led to many campaigns from actions groups such as (MAG) Motorcycle Action Group.

Now the MAG have embarked on new campaign to make crash barriers more suitable for motorcyclists.

The problems that the action may face are that crash barriers are normally designed with four wheeled vehicles in mind and there are no currenly laws that state that motorbikes should be fitting with crash barriers as standard, so it would be hard to pursuade companies to invest.

Some companies are opposed to crash barriers, stating  installing barriers would actually put bikers at a greater risk, due to the fact that it is one more thing to collide into.

Putting these aurgments aside everyone can can least agree on the fact that these statistics highlight the importance of getting adequate protection for motorbike riders.

It has been said many times that motorbike riders know the risks when they start riding motorbikes, but does this mean that they deserve less attention when it comes to safety issues?
