Buying a New Bike - Online Dealers

With the age of high-tech technology in full flow and the use of the World Wide Web as a means of business online motorbike purchasing is slowly becoming more popular. We now regularly get free online quotes and buy our bike insurance on the net so why not actually buy our machines online?

Most of the large motorcycle dealers believe that this is not a service that they want to encourage. They believe it takes away from building up customer relations that develop in a face to face meeting. Another reason could be that it will reduce the amount of impulse purchases associated with actually visiting a show room.

Whatever the dealers views about online purchasing it is becoming more and more popular for buyers that know exactly what they are looking for. So what are the positive and negative points of online purchasing.

Positive points

Simple - Using online showrooms is very simple all you need is a computer with access to the internet and away you go.

Quick - The time that you can save by searching hundreds of online show rooms rather than travelling to physical showrooms can be enormous.

Hard sell - Buying online completely removes a salesman's strong arm tactics. Due to the fact that you are buying a vehicle with no personal contact this means that the seller hasn't got the opportunity to barrage you with useless information.

Selection - The selection of bikes for the customer on the net is endless. The consumer has hundreds of pages of bikes for sale at their finger tips.

Negative points

Limited service - One major disadvantage is the fact that not a lot of the big manufacturers actually supply an online service. This will surely change within the next few years as demand for these services rise.

Negotiation - Negotiation on the price of a bike via online purchases can be difficult and in most cases is not even possible. This is down to the fact that the bikes have been offered at a low price over the internet and you have no physical person to haggle the price down with.

Payment - When buying a bike online the issue of payment arises. With exchanges of money that can be as much as £20,000 is the internet the securest place to do this? With all the security software on the market today this wouldn't be a problem but maybe this would still put some perspective buyers off.

Buying Unseen - The final problem with buying a bike online is that the customer is buying the bike unseen. Viewing a bike before purchase can show up any faults that a bike may have, being a new bike there should be no problems but cosmetic damage can occur in transit.

In closing, online purchasing is sure to become huge within the biking industry allowing customers to buy their bike insurance and there bike online as demand for the service increases. The service is available now and if you know exactly what you are looking for then why not take the hassle out of travelling to showrooms to look at bikes and go online today.
